As a locally owned and operated, independent bookstore, we stock both new and used books. We offer a highly curated book selection, trained staff to help you find just what you’re looking for and assurance that every dollar you spend is spent locally. We also have an extensive local author selection that features authors from across North Dakota! Come on by and check us out!
Book Trades
Silver Dawn Books will allow ONLY THREE medium sized boxes per visit per day for trading in your used books. Because we have a limited amount of space we request that customers bringing in books for store credit or as donations to schedule an appointment for anything more than that. We understand some customers have to come from out of town so scheduling an appointment is how we can accommodate larger volumes of books. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Yes! We take your gently used books!
Credit works toward up to 25% of new products and up to 50% of used product purchases! So you WILL still be paying something at the point of purchase
General Book Trade Guidelines
1) We will take in any book or DVD/BLURAY you bring in LEGALLY. This means that it is yours to give to us and not the property of someone else.
2) Items that we WILL NOT grant In-Store Credit for include:
Outdated non fiction (Finance, Reference, Health, Self-Help, Diet and textbook)
Damaged Materials (This includes, but is not limited to, Water, Smoke, Oil, Mold, Pet, etc)
Poor Quality Products (This includes tears/scratches, broken spines, missing pages/dust-cover, folded corners, warped, severely bent covers, etc)
Low Grade Small Paperbacks (i.e. If we can’t read the title on the spine, we probably won’t accept it)
Ex-Library books
3) PLEASE LIMIT EACH TRADE TO THREE SMALL BAGS/BOXES OR ONE LARGE BOX
4) What we cannot accept, we ask that you take back with you. If you are unable to do so, you can donate them. They will either be used for our bag sales or recycled.
5) Please allow 10-30 minutes for each trade depending on the amount of books brought in.
